Summary of our trips in 2022
I just barely finished writing the summary of 2021, and it’s already the end of the next year. Does time fly by so fast for you too?
The year 2022 finally brought us the end of the pandemic and travel restrictions (at least in most countries). It is true that in January we all had covid, and then we had to ski in Italy in masks (thankfully not all the time), but then it only got better and better 🙂 We went on 4 longer trips (Tenerife, skiing in Italy, Barcelona + Catalonia and Florida) and a few weekend trips (London, Warsaw, visiting family in Szczecin and Grodziec). In addition, we got to know new corners in the south of Sweden and Denmark. It was also not without returning to well-known places. Besides, I finally managed to go somewhere on business (to England and Norway)! Tomasz was in the USA twice on business this year, Athens and God knows where else, but I’m happy with what I got 🙂
Personally, I am very pleased with our travels this year. We finally managed to show the children where we met and go to the USA for the first time!
This year, we spend New Year’s Eve at home, but plans for next year are slowly starting to appear 🙂 If only the prices of plane tickets fell a bit…
So, do you want to see our summary?
January
We welcomed 2022 in Tenerife. Normally we are not in the habit of going on holiday at this time of year, but once again our friends from Brussels convinced us to go on holiday together. It is true that the New Year’s Eve itself was not very successful, but then it was much better. We had beautiful summer weather and managed to visit some really interesting places, including the top of the Teide volcano. And about what is worth seeing in Tenerife, you can read HERE.
February
In December we were convinced that we would not be able to go skiing for another year in a row. But fortunately, friends recommended the Allegra club, with which we went to the Italian Valley of the Sun, i.e. Val di Sole. We decided to take a flight for the first time (rather than driving 2 days one way) and we think it was a great decision. Thanks to this, apart from 6 days of skiing on the slopes, we had time to visit Verona, Trento, Bolzano and met Tomasz’s friends.
March
The beginning of March was, as always, time spent at home. The weather was rarely good, and the spring sun did not want to show itself. Fortunately, at the end of the month we managed to go for the first spring walks in Bokskogen and Fågelsångsdalen.
April
At the beginning of April my parents visited us. It’s very rare that they come together, but this time they did it and we wanted to take them somewhere even more. Although the weather was still far from spring, we still spent a nice family day in the Wanås Sculpture Park and in Kristianstad.
Two weeks later we went to Szczecin for Easter, and there I managed to get my family to Woliński National Park. There was a bison farm and a walk on the beach in Międzyzdroje.
After a 2-year break, the Sakura Festival in Copenhagen also returned at the end of April. And although for the fourth time maybe it didn’t make such an impression, we still enjoyed watching karate shows, playing drums and eating Japanese delicacies. In addition, this year the festival coincided perfectly with the cherry blossoms, so it was beautiful and pink!
On the last weekend of April we went for a hike to Hovs Hallar. Climbing the rocky coast is what our children like the most 🙂
May
Finally spring, and with it 2 longer weekend trips. First to Warsaw for my nephew’s communion, and then to London. This time in Warsaw we managed to explore a bit more: Łazienki Park, the Old Town and a walk along the Vistula River.
London turned out to be much more attractive than we expected. In addition to the studio where Harry Potter films were shot, we also followed in the footsteps of Paddington Bear, visited 3 very interesting museums and took a long walk along the Thames, visiting the most important points of London along the way. For details see HERE.
June
The beginning of summer at last! We started by celebrating the end of the school year and the end of kindergarten in Tivoli in Copenhagen.
Later, Tomasz and Adam went to visit grandma in Szczecin, and Gabriela and I had our girls’ week. We managed to go to Åhus to the high ropes park, the beach and great ice cream. The boys at that time visited new and old places in Szczecin and its vicinity.
At the end of June, we celebrate Midsummer in Sweden (a pagan holiday of summer). This year, at that time, my long-time no see friend from college visited us, so I decided to take her on a trip and get to know a new place. The choice fell on the Sofiero palace and gardens, which we can sincerely recommend for celebrating this day.
July
In July, again unusually for us, we went on holiday to Spain. We’ve been wanting to come back to Barcelona for a long time and show the kids where we met and finally we did. And by the way, we also spent a week on the Costa Brava and got to know more and less known corners of Catalonia.
After returning from hot Spain, we traditionally sent the children to their grandparents in Grodziec. At that time, we were supposed to spend a romantic weekend at the SPA, but unfortunately Tomasz’s little bicycle accident thwarted our plans. So it was just a short trip to Copenhagen.
August
The second half of the summer was only short trips in the area. We managed to go to our favorite beach in Skanör and for a walk in Skrylle. In addition, we followed the footsteps of huge Trolls around Copenhagen and got to know the tiny island of Hanö located on the eastern coast of Skåne/Blekinge.
September
We celebrated Tomasz’s birthday this year with a trip to Nimis, the capital of Ladonia. If the name itself intrigued you, be sure to read more on the blog. By the way, we also visited the nearby Kapperup Castle.
The following September weekends brought us a trip to Söderåsen National Park and Naturfestival in Malmö, where, among others, we learned to fish and ate scout delicacies.
October
At the beginning of the month, while the weather was still quite bearable, we went for a walk to Skanör, a place where we usually only come to the beach. And this time we managed to see much more 🙂
And on the last weekend of October we set off on our long-awaited trip to the USA!
November
For us, November traditionally means longer trips outside Europe. It was no different this year. We finally made it to the USA. We chose Florida for the first time and it was one of our best vacations ever! The atmospheric Miami, beautiful nature in the Everglades and Homossasa Springs, sunbathing in St. Pete, madness in Disney World, and finally the fantastic Kennedy Space Center. You can read about everything we did and saw in Florida HERE.
December
Unfortunately, after returning from sunny Florida, the weather was not very good for the rest of the year and we spent most weekends at home (or indoors at least). There was a trip to the Museum in Malmö, there was a Christmas show in the stables where Gabriela rides, a family party in Tomasz’s office. Snow came occasionally, but each time it was so little that we didn’t even manage to go sledding.
We spent Christmas at home in Malmö and the weather was extremely unfriendly. We are looking forward to the arrival of a real winter (with snow) or spring right away! And we are slowly starting to make travel plans for this year 🙂
